What Is Rapid eLearning?

Rapid eLearning is a course development approach that converts content you already own - a PowerPoint deck, a PDF manual, a Word document, an SOP, or a recorded webinar - into a structured, interactive, SCORM-ready course in weeks instead of months. The speed comes from three things: source material that already carries the subject expertise, rapid authoring tools with reusable templates and learning objects, and a production workflow that removes rework rather than removing learning design.

Rapid eLearning vs. Conventional eLearning Development

Dimension Rapid eLearning Conventional eLearning
Starting point Existing content you already own A performance goal, researched and built from zero
Production method Rapid authoring tools, reusable templates and learning objects Bespoke assets, custom interactions, original media production
SME time required Low – typically 2–3 touchpoints High – repeated interviews and content-gathering cycles
Typical timeline 3–5 weeks per course 3–6 months per course
Update cost Low – you hold the source files and can edit in-house Higher – custom assets often need the original vendor
What stays the same Instructional design, behavioral objectives, assessment alignment, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and SCORM/xAPI conformance. Rapid changes how the course is produced, not the standard it is held to.

What's Included in Our Rapid eLearning Services

Rapid eLearning works best when you already have the raw material - a PowerPoint deck, a PDF manual, a Word document, or a webinar recording. You send eLearning Solutions Lab what you have; we handle the instructional design, build, and packaging, and return a tested, SCORM-ready course in 3 to 5 weeks. Here is what is included in every rapid eLearning build.

Content Conversion From What You Already Have

You do not need a finished storyboard or production script. We work from raw source material - slides, manuals, documents, recorded sessions, or even a topic outline - and turn it into a structured, interactive course. Your existing content carries the subject expertise; our development team focuses on design, interaction, and packaging.

Instructional Design Built In, Not Bolted On

Speed does not mean skipping the learning design. Every rapid build includes instructional design from the start - learner analysis, behavioral objectives, and assessment alignment - so you get a course that changes behavior, not a slide deck with a quiz at the end.

Industry-Standard Authoring Tools

We build in Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, iSpring Suite, and Lectora - industry-standard tools that make rapid production possible without locking you into a proprietary format. The result is a course your own team can maintain and update later.

SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5-Ready for Your LMS

Every course is delivered as a tested SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5 package for platforms including Cornerstone, Docebo, TalentLMS, Absorb, Moodle, Workday Learning, and SAP SuccessFactors. We test compatibility before delivery and give you upload instructions written for your platform.

WCAG 2.1 AA Accessibility - Included at Every Tier

Accessibility is not optional. Every course meets WCAG 2.1 AA - screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, sufficient color contrast, and accurate captions on audio and video - included in every build at every price point.

Transparent, Published Pricing

A Rapid Build is $2,999 for 30 to 60 minutes of seat time, with instructional design, accessibility, and one revision round included. No hidden scoping fees and no surprise revision charges - you know the cost before the project starts.

On-Brand Templates and Reusable Learning Objects

Speed comes from building once and reusing. We set up a course template on your brand - typography, color, navigation, interaction patterns - plus a library of reusable learning objects for knowledge checks, scenarios, and callouts. The second course in a series is faster and cheaper than the first, and every module looks like it belongs to the same program.

Mobile-Responsive HTML5 Output

Every course publishes to responsive HTML5 and is tested on desktop, tablet, and phone across Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. Frontline and field teams get the same course as head office - no app to install, no separate mobile build to pay for.

Built Translation-Ready and Microlearning-Ready

Courses are structured so text can be exported for translation and reimported without a rebuild, and so modules can be split into standalone microlearning nuggets later. You are not locked into the format you launch with.

What You Send Us - and What You Get Back

The most common question before kickoff is whether your material is good enough to start. Usually it is. Here is what we accept as source content, what we do with each format, and what comes back.

Source content What we do with it Typical output
PowerPoint deck Restructured into a self-paced flow, redesigned on your brand template, and rebuilt with interactions and knowledge checks. See PowerPoint to eLearning. Interactive SCORM course
PDF manual or SOP Chunked against learning objectives, rewritten for screen reading, and converted into modules with scored assessment. Modular course or curriculum
Facilitator guide or ILT deck Facilitator prompts converted into narration, discussion points converted into scenarios and decision points. See ILT to eLearning. Self-paced eLearning
Recorded webinar, Teams or Zoom session Transcribed, edited into segments, and rebuilt as a course with checkpoints – rather than published as a two-hour video nobody finishes. Segmented course + captions
Legacy SCORM or Flash course Rebuilt in a current authoring tool, made responsive and accessible, content refreshed where it has aged. See legacy content conversion. Responsive HTML5 rebuild
A topic outline and an SME Where no formal material exists, the SME records a walkthrough against a rough outline; we transcribe, structure, and build from that. Two to three SME touchpoints total. New course from minimal input

How Customizable Is Rapid eLearning?

Rapid does not mean one-size-fits-all. Every eLearning Solutions Lab build is designed on your brand and written for your content; how far customization goes depends on the tier you choose. Here is exactly what you can tailor at each level.

What you can customize Rapid Build ($2,999) Professional Build ($4,500) Enterprise Build ($7,500)
Branding and visual design On-brand template and custom visuals On-brand template plus custom animation Fully custom design and motion graphics
Interactivity Click-to-reveal, tabs, drag-and-drop, scored quizzes Branching scenarios with real consequences and teaching feedback after every decision Adaptive branching plus software and process simulations
Storytelling Guided narrative Named on-screen facilitator Named facilitator plus scenario storytelling
Voiceover AI or human AI or human AI or human
Revision rounds One Two Two
Delivery 3–5 weeks 5–7 weeks 6–8 weeks

Beyond the tiers: role-specific versions, region-specific policy variants, additional languages, and splitting a course into microlearning modules are all common requests. Each is scoped during the Week 1 discovery call and quoted before any work starts, so customization never turns into a surprise invoice.

Our Rapid eLearning Development Process

A 3 to 5 week timeline only holds if the process behind it is fixed. Here is how a rapid eLearning project moves from your raw files to a course live on your LMS, what happens each week, and what we need from you at each checkpoint.

1. Discovery and Content Intake - Week 1

We audit every source file you send, confirm the behavioral objectives, agree seat time and interactivity level, and identify content gaps early. Instructional intent is signed off before development begins - skipping this step is the single biggest reason timelines slip. What we need from you: source files and one 45-minute discovery call.

2. Rapid Instructional Structuring - Week 1–2

Content is mapped to objectives, sequenced into modules, and matched to assessment points so every screen earns its place. You receive a course outline and narration script for review - the cheapest possible moment to change direction. What we need from you: consolidated feedback on the outline within 3 business days.

3. Template and Visual Design - Week 2

We build the course template on your brand - typography, color, navigation, interaction patterns - and set up the reusable learning objects the build will draw from. Approving one template is faster than approving fifty screens, and it keeps a multi-course rollout visually consistent. What we need from you: brand guidelines or a recent deck.

4. Accelerated Build - Week 2–4

The course is developed in Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, iSpring, or Lectora, with voiceover, interactions, and assessments produced in parallel rather than in sequence. You see a working alpha build in the tool, not a PDF mockup. What we need from you: one consolidated review of the alpha.

5. Accessibility and QA Testing - Week 4

Three passes, not one: functional QA on every interaction and score, a WCAG 2.1 AA audit including a screen reader and keyboard-only run, and an instructional review against the objectives agreed in Week 1. Issues are fixed before you see the beta, not after. What we need from you: nothing.

6. LMS Packaging and Handover - Week 4–5

We publish and test the SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5 package against your platform before delivery, then hand over the published package, the editable source files, and upload instructions written for your LMS. If something breaks on upload, it is our issue to resolve, not yours.

Rapid eLearning Tools and Technology We Use

We build in licensed, industry-standard authoring tools and hand over the source files, so nothing we make is trapped in a proprietary player. Tool choice is a scoping decision, not a house preference - here is how we pick.

Authoring tools – and when we use each

Tool Best for Trade-off
Articulate Storyline 360 Branching scenarios, software simulations, custom interactions, and precise assessment logic. Slide-based; responsive behavior needs deliberate design.
Articulate Rise 360 The fastest route for knowledge-transfer content: policy, onboarding, product updates. Fully responsive out of the box. Fixed block library – limited deep customization.
iSpring Suite Straight PowerPoint conversion where the deck structure is already sound and speed is the priority. Inherits the limits of the original deck.
Lectora Accessibility-critical builds – public sector, healthcare, and regulated industries needing strong WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 support. Longer build time than Rise for simple content.
Adobe Captivate System and process simulations, screen-capture-heavy technical training. Best reserved for simulation work specifically.

AI in the production workflow – and where it stops

We use AI where it removes production time without touching instructional judgment: AI voiceover and premium synthetic voices, first-pass image and illustration generation, transcription of recorded sessions, and draft translation for localization. AI does not set the learning objectives, write the assessment logic, or sign off the accessibility audit on our projects. A human instructional designer owns the course from Week 1 to handover, and every AI-assisted asset is reviewed before it ships.

Standards and compatibility

  • SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 (2nd, 3rd, 4th edition)
  • xAPI (Tin Can) and cmi5
  • Responsive HTML5 output, tested on desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • WCAG 2.1 AA, with Section 508 alignment and VPAT available on request
  • Editable source files handed over on every project

Tracking, Analytics and Reporting: What Rapid eLearning Courses Record

A course is only as useful as the data it sends back. eLearning Solutions Lab builds every rapid course so the completion, scoring, and learner data your L&D and compliance teams need flows into your LMS - or into a learning record store - from launch day. Here is what gets tracked by standard.

Data point SCORM 1.2 / 2004 xAPI / cmi5
Completion status Yes Yes
Pass/fail and final score Yes Yes
Time spent in the course Yes Yes
Question-level responses Yes, where your LMS supports interaction reporting Yes, as individual statements
Scenario choices and branching paths Limited Yes – each decision can be recorded
Activity outside the LMS No Yes, via a learning record store (LRS)
  • Kirkpatrick Level 1–2 built in. Every Rapid Build includes learner reaction and learning measurement – a short feedback check and scored assessments aligned to the objectives agreed in Week 1.
  • Reports that are right from day one. Completion and scoring settings are documented for your specific LMS at handover, so compliance reports do not need fixing after launch.
  • Tested before delivery. We verify that completion, pass/fail, and score data actually reach your LMS before we hand the course over.

Rapid eLearning for Large Enterprise L&D Teams

Enterprise L&D teams ask the same three questions of every vendor: can you handle volume, will support hold up, and will the output pass IT, security, and accessibility review? Here is how eLearning Solutions Lab answers each.

Multi-course programs at volume

Large programs share one discovery phase, one approved brand template, and one library of reusable learning objects. Modules are then delivered on staggered dates so your reviewers are never buried, and every course after the first builds faster and costs less.

One point of contact

You work with a Learning Advisor from the first conversation, and Professional and Enterprise builds add a priority project manager. Reviews are consolidated at fixed checkpoints, so feedback from multiple stakeholders is handled once rather than piecemeal.

Responsive customer support

We reply within 3 business hours, send a fixed-price proposal within 24 hours of the discovery call, and fix any post-launch defect - a broken interaction, a tracking failure, an accessibility miss - at no cost for 30 days after delivery.

Security and confidentiality

A mutual NDA is signed before any file moves, transfers are encrypted as standard, and your source content is never reused as a sample without written permission.

Integration with your existing systems

Courses are tested on enterprise platforms including Cornerstone, Workday Learning, SAP SuccessFactors, Docebo, and Absorb, packaged as SCORM, xAPI, or cmi5, and can send xAPI data to your LRS. If a package fails on your LMS, fixing it is our responsibility.

Procurement-ready evidence

Published pricing simplifies budget approval, and every handover includes an accessibility summary. WCAG 2.1 AA is standard, with Section 508 alignment and a VPAT available on request for public sector and regulated buyers.

Switching Rapid eLearning Vendors: How the Handover Works

Teams usually change rapid eLearning vendors because of missed timelines, surprise charges, or courses they cannot edit. Here is how eLearning Solutions Lab takes over an existing course library quickly - without disrupting learners or losing tracking history.

1. We start from whatever you have

If you have editable source files from Storyline, Rise, iSpring, Lectora, or Captivate, we work in them directly. If you only have published SCORM packages or old Flash output, we rebuild them through legacy content conversion. Either way, the library is audited during Week 1.

2. We match - or refresh - your look

New modules can be built to match your current template so the catalog stays consistent. If the existing design is part of the problem, we build a new on-brand template and roll it across the library in stages.

3. Tracking history stays intact

We plan package replacement with your LMS administrator so completion records stay attached to the course where your platform supports it, and we test every updated package before it goes live to learners.

When Rapid eLearning Is the Right Call

Rapid eLearning is not the answer to every training problem - it is the answer to a specific set of them. These are the six situations where L&D teams come to us and rapid is clearly the right call.

A compliance deadline you cannot move

A regulator, auditor, or insurer has set a date. The policy content already exists in a document; what is missing is a trackable, completion-recorded course on the LMS. Rapid conversion gets it deployed and evidenced in weeks. See compliance training.

A product launch with a sales team to brief

Launch decks, spec sheets, and objection-handling notes exist; the sales floor needs them as consistent training before the launch date, not after. See product training and sales training.

Onboarding that runs constantly

Hiring is continuous, sites are spread out, and the induction experience depends on who happens to run it that week. A rapid build standardizes it once and lowers cost per hire from there. See employee onboarding.

A content backlog your team cannot clear

Twelve courses are queued and the internal team has capacity for three. Rapid development on a shared template lets modules run in parallel without each one looking like it came from a different organization.

A library of aging or broken courses

Courses built in obsolete tools that will not open on a phone, fail an accessibility check, or no longer have source files. Rebuilding them rapidly costs less than commissioning them again from scratch. See legacy content conversion.

Training that has to travel across sites and languages

Multiple locations, time zones, or languages make live delivery a scheduling problem and a consistency problem. Courses are built translation-ready so a second language is a re-import, not a rebuild. See localization.

Rapid vs. Custom eLearning: Which One Does Your Project Need?

The most common question we get is not how fast we can build - it is which approach fits the project. Most L&D teams need both at different points in their roadmap, and the deciding factor is your starting point. If you already have the content, rapid eLearning converts it quickly. If you are starting from a performance goal with no asset to build on, custom eLearning is the right call. Here is how the two compare.

Feature
Option A · Faster & Leaner

Choose This When Your existing materials are solid, content is stable for 18+ months, and you need speed-to-launch over a full redesign. The original ILT relied heavily on facilitator nuance, or learner behavior change is the real outcome you’re measuring. See custom eLearning development.

Should You Convert It - Or Keep It Live? A Decision Framework

Not every instructor-led program belongs in an LMS. Converting the wrong training wastes budget, frustrates learners, and produces a course nobody completes. Before you commit to a conversion project, run your program through these four questions.

Does the learning outcome depend on human interaction?

Some training works because of what happens between people: pushback in a role-play, a facilitator who reads the room and reframes a concept, or a peer discussion that surfaces a blind spot no slide could anticipate. If your outcome depends on those dynamics, self-paced eLearning will hollow it out. Convert when the outcome is knowledge transfer, process understanding, or compliance awareness. Keep it live when the outcome is a practiced skill, a judgment call under pressure, or a behavior that needs real coaching feedback.

How often does the content change?

Content that changes often - regulations, product specs, evolving policies - creates a maintenance burden in eLearning that live training does not carry. A facilitator can update talking points overnight; a SCORM course needs a revision cycle. Convert when content is stable for at least 18 to 24 months, as compliance frameworks, onboarding processes, and SOPs usually are. Keep it live when updates land every quarter. Owning the source files narrows this gap, because small updates can be made in-house.

What is the scale and frequency of delivery?

This is an ROI question. eLearning pays for itself through volume and repetition: a course built once and delivered to hundreds of learners across cohorts compounds its return, while a program run once a year for twelve people rarely justifies the build. Convert when you train 50 or more learners a year, run multiple cohorts, or train across locations and time zones. Keep it live when the audience is small, delivery is infrequent, or the live relationship is part of the value.

Is inconsistent delivery currently costing you?

If training quality depends on who runs it - some cohorts leave equipped and others do not - that is a strong conversion signal. eLearning delivers the same experience to every learner, regardless of facilitator or location. Convert when multiple trainers deliver the same content differently or a distributed workforce gets inconsistent sessions. Keep it live when you have a small, high-quality facilitation team whose sessions are consistent and valued by learners.

Rapid eLearning: Myths vs. Facts

Rapid eLearning has a reputation problem, and some of it is earned - by vendors who sell converted slides with a quiz on the end. Here is what is actually true, and what is a bad experience being generalized.

The myth What is actually true
“Rapid means lower quality.” Rapid describes the production method, not the instructional standard. What gets removed is bespoke asset production and open-ended rework – not learner analysis, behavioral objectives, assessment alignment, or accessibility testing.
“Rapid means no instructional design.” That is true of some vendors, which is exactly why it is worth asking. At eLearning Solutions Lab, instructional design sits in the base price at every tier – if it is sold as an upsell, the default output is not really a course.
“Templates make every course look the same.” Templates make every course in your program look the same – which is the point. The template is built on your brand, and the interactions, scenarios, and assessments inside it are written for your content.
“Rapid courses can’t be interactive.” Interactivity is a tier decision, not a rapid-versus-custom decision. Branching scenarios with real consequences, adaptive paths, and software simulations are all available on a rapid timeline – priced accordingly.
“You’ll be locked into the vendor for every update.” Not if you get the source files. We hand over editable Storyline, Rise, iSpring, or Lectora files on every project, so your team can make routine updates without a purchase order.
“Rapid is only for compliance box-ticking.” Compliance is the most common use case because the content is stable and the deadline is fixed. But the same approach works for product launches, onboarding, technical process training, and refreshing an aging course library.

Accessibility: WCAG 2.1 AA at Every Tier, Not as an Upsell

Many vendors sell accessibility as a premium add-on, which means the default course they build is one some of your workforce cannot complete. eLearning Solutions Lab treats WCAG 2.1 AA as the minimum specification at every price tier - here is what that covers and how it is verified before delivery.

What we build to

Screen reader compatibility with a logical reading order and meaningful alt text on every informative image. Full keyboard operability with a visible focus indicator and no keyboard traps. Minimum 4.5:1 contrast on body text and 3:1 on interface components. Captions on all video, transcripts for all audio, and no meaning carried by color alone.

How it is verified

Automated contrast and structure checks, then a manual pass - the part many vendors skip. A keyboard-only run through the entire course, a screen reader run, and a check that every interaction has an accessible equivalent. Findings are logged and fixed before the beta build reaches you, not after your audit finds them.

For regulated and public sector buyers

Section 508 alignment and a VPAT are available on request. If you supply source assets that are not accessible - uncaptioned video, image-only PDFs, low-contrast brand colors - we flag them during Week 1 intake and quote the remediation up front, rather than delivering a course that quietly fails.

LMS Compatibility and Pre-Delivery Testing

A course that breaks on upload is not finished. We publish, upload, and test against your platform before we hand anything over - and if it fails on your side, resolving it is our job, not yours.

Platform Package we deliver Included with handover
Cornerstone SCORM 1.2 / 2004 / xAPI Upload steps + completion & scoring settings
Docebo SCORM 1.2 / 2004 / xAPI Upload steps + completion & scoring settings
TalentLMS SCORM 1.2 / 2004 Upload steps + completion & scoring settings
Absorb LMS SCORM 1.2 / 2004 / xAPI Upload steps + completion & scoring settings
Moodle SCORM 1.2 / 2004 Upload steps + completion & scoring settings
Workday Learning SCORM 1.2 / 2004 Upload steps + completion & scoring settings
SAP SuccessFactors SCORM 1.2 / 2004 Upload steps + completion & scoring settings
Any conformant LMS or LRS SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, cmi5 Tested against your instance before delivery

What we test before handover: launch and resume behavior, completion and pass/fail reporting back to the LMS, score and question-level tracking where enabled, bookmarking across sessions, and playback on desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers. Not sure your platform is on the list? It almost certainly still works – send us the platform name and version and we will confirm before you commit.

What You Receive at Handover

Plenty of vendors deliver a published file and nothing else, which is how organizations end up unable to change a single sentence without raising a purchase order. Here is exactly what lands in your hands at the end of a project.

In the handover package

  • The published course – SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5, tested on your platform
  • Editable source files – your Storyline, Rise, iSpring, or Lectora project, so your team can edit in-house
  • Narration scripts and transcripts – ready for translation or reuse
  • Media assets – images, audio, and video used in the build
  • Upload instructions – written for your specific LMS, including completion and scoring settings
  • Accessibility summary – what was tested and how, with a VPAT available on request

Ownership and support

  • You own the output. Full rights to the course and the source files on final payment – no license fee, no per-seat charge, no renewal.
  • You are not locked in. Everything is built in mainstream authoring tools, so another vendor or your own team can pick the files up.
  • Post-launch support. For 30 days after delivery, any defect – a broken interaction, a tracking failure, an accessibility miss – is fixed at no cost.
  • Confidentiality. NDA signed before intake, and your source content is never reused as a sample without written permission.

Industries We Build Rapid eLearning For

Rapid conversion works the same way everywhere, but the constraints do not. Regulated industries need audit trails and accessibility evidence; distributed field teams need mobile-first delivery; fast-moving commercial teams need modules that can be updated without a rebuild.

Healthcare and life sciences

Clinical SOPs, infection control, device and system training, and mandatory annual refreshers - where completion evidence and accessibility are non-negotiable. See healthcare eLearning solutions.

FMCG, retail and field teams

Product knowledge that changes every quarter, merchandising standards, and high-turnover frontline onboarding delivered to phones rather than desks. See eLearning for FMCG.

Training and consulting companies

Firms with proven classroom IP that needs a digital product line - converted on a shared template so a whole catalog ships as one coherent program. See solutions for training companies.

How to Choose a Rapid eLearning Vendor

Rapid eLearning vendors are easy to find and hard to tell apart. The real differences show up when you ask the right questions before signing. Use these six checks when you evaluate any vendor, including eLearning Solutions Lab.

1. Ask whether pricing is published or quoted case by case

Many vendors will not share numbers until you are on a sales call. Published pricing means a vendor has scoped enough projects to know what the work costs, and it lets you budget without negotiation. If every quote is bespoke and every revision is a potential surcharge, you are entering an open-ended engagement. Ask for the starting price, what it includes, and exactly what triggers an extra charge.

2. Confirm instructional design is part of the build, not an upsell

Rapid should not mean skipping learning design, but plenty of vendors treat it that way and deliver slides with a quiz bolted on. That produces a completion record, not behavior change, and it is the main reason rapid eLearning gets a bad reputation. Ask whether learner analysis, behavioral objectives, and assessment alignment are in the base price or sold as a separate tier. If instructional design is optional, the default output is not really a course.

3. Demand proof of LMS compatibility and accessibility standards

A course that breaks on upload or fails an accessibility audit is not finished - it is a problem handed back to you. A credible vendor delivers tested SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5 packages, names the LMS platforms it has delivered to, and builds WCAG 2.1 AA as standard rather than as a premium add-on. Ask which standards they meet and whether compatibility is tested before delivery, not after you find the issue.

4. Look at the process, not just the portfolio

A polished sample shows a vendor can build a good course; a documented process shows they will do it predictably. Ask how a project moves from raw content to launch: when discovery happens, where the review checkpoints are, and who owns issues that surface after LMS upload. Vendors running your project as one of fifty in a queue will not have clear answers. The clearer the process before kickoff, the lower the risk of a timeline that quietly slips.

5. Ask what you own at handover - including the source files

A published file is not the whole deliverable. Without the editable source project, every typo fix, policy update, and logo change becomes a paid request back to the vendor - and if that vendor disappears, so does your ability to maintain the course. Ask three questions before signing: do we receive the editable source files, do we own the output outright once we have paid, and what happens if a defect appears after go-live. A vendor confident in the work hands over the files.

6. Treat geography as a selection question, not a red flag

Where a vendor is based is an operational question, not a quality signal. The real risk is a vendor with no instructional accountability, and that exists onshore and offshore alike. What protects you is process transparency, published pricing, structured review cycles, and a partner who measures success by learning outcomes rather than file delivery. Judge every vendor on those four things, wherever the work is built.

Services That Pair With Rapid eLearning

Most rapid projects start with a conversion and grow from there. These are the services our rapid eLearning clients most often add alongside a build.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rapid eLearning

The questions L&D and procurement teams ask most often about eLearning Solutions Lab's rapid eLearning development services.

Project Timelines and Costs

Rapid eLearning is a course development approach that converts content you already have – a PowerPoint deck, a PDF manual, a Word document, or a webinar recording – into a structured, interactive, SCORM-ready course quickly and cost-effectively. Because the source material already carries the subject expertise, the development team focuses on instructional design, interaction, and packaging instead of building from scratch. At eLearning Solutions Lab, a rapid course takes 3 to 5 weeks and starts at $2,999.

Most rapid eLearning courses from eLearning Solutions Lab are delivered in 3 to 5 weeks from kickoff, including instructional design, development, QA, and SCORM packaging. The main variable is review turnaround: the faster feedback comes back at each checkpoint, the more reliably the timeline holds. Delayed subject matter expert feedback or mid-build scope changes can extend it, which is why instructional intent is locked in during the Week 1 discovery call before development begins.

Rapid eLearning is usually built in industry-standard authoring tools: Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, iSpring Suite, and Lectora, with Adobe Captivate for software or process simulation. These tools make fast production possible without locking you into a proprietary format. Tool choice is a scoping decision based on your content and interactivity level, and you receive the editable source file whichever tool we use.

eLearning Solutions Lab publishes its pricing rather than quoting case by case. A Rapid Build is $2,999 per course for 30 to 60 minutes of seat time, a Professional Build with full branching interactivity is $4,500, and an Enterprise Build with simulation and fully custom design is $7,500. Instructional design, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, SCORM or xAPI packaging, LMS testing, and source files are included at every tier. Anything outside those tiers – additional seat time, extra revision rounds, additional languages, professional human voiceover – is quoted and approved before work begins.

No – but it is a fair question, because some vendors have earned the reputation. Rapid describes the production method, not the instructional standard. What rapid removes is bespoke asset production, rework, and open-ended scoping. What it does not remove is learner analysis, behavioral objectives, assessment alignment, accessibility testing, or QA. If a vendor’s version of rapid means converted slides with a quiz at the end, that is not a rapid course – it is a slide deck in a SCORM wrapper.

Choose rapid when you already hold usable source content, that content is stable for roughly 18 months or more, and speed to launch matters more than a full redesign – compliance refreshers, product updates, SOPs, and onboarding are the usual cases. Choose custom eLearning when you are starting from a performance goal with no asset to build on, or when the outcome you are measuring is behavior change rather than knowledge transfer. Most L&D teams use both at different points in their roadmap.

Scope, Standards and Ownership

PowerPoint decks, PDF manuals, Word documents, SOPs, facilitator guides, ILT handouts, recorded webinars or Teams and Zoom sessions, video files, and legacy SCORM or Flash courses. If no formal material exists, a topic outline plus two or three short sessions with your subject matter expert is enough to start – we transcribe and structure from there.

We deliver and test on Cornerstone, Docebo, TalentLMS, Absorb, Moodle, Workday Learning, and SAP SuccessFactors, plus any platform conformant with SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5. We test launch, resume, completion reporting, and score tracking against your platform before handover rather than after, and you receive upload instructions written for your specific LMS.

Yes to both. You receive the editable Storyline, Rise, iSpring, or Lectora project alongside the published package, plus narration scripts and media assets, and you own the output outright on final payment. Your team can fix a typo or update a policy reference in-house without raising a purchase order – and if you ever move to another vendor, the files go with you.

Every course meets WCAG 2.1 AA at every price tier – screen reader compatibility with a logical reading order, full keyboard operability with visible focus, minimum 4.5:1 text contrast, alt text on informative images, and captions and transcripts on all audio and video. Verification includes a manual keyboard-only pass and a screen reader pass, not just an automated check. Section 508 alignment and a VPAT are available on request for public sector and regulated buyers.

Yes. Courses are built translation-ready, so on-screen text and narration can be exported, translated, and reimported without rebuilding the course. Voiceover, assessments, and on-screen text can all be localized, and additional languages can run alongside the original build on the same timeline. See eLearning localization.

One consolidated revision round is included with a Rapid Build and two with Professional and Enterprise builds, applied at the review checkpoint. Additional rounds or content changes made after sign-off are quoted before any work starts. For 30 days after delivery, any defect – a broken interaction, a tracking failure, an accessibility miss – is fixed at no cost.

We use AI where it removes production time – voiceover, first-pass imagery, transcription of recorded sessions, and draft translation. We do not use it to set learning objectives, write assessment logic, or sign off accessibility. A human instructional designer owns the course from the Week 1 discovery call through to handover, and every AI-assisted asset is reviewed before it ships.

Yes – and it is where rapid development pays off most. Once the template and reusable learning objects are approved on the first course, subsequent modules build faster and cost less, and the whole set stays visually and instructionally consistent. Multi-course programs are scoped with a shared discovery phase and staggered delivery dates so your review load stays manageable.

Enterprise, Support and Switching Vendors

Yes. Enterprise programs are scoped with a shared discovery phase, one approved brand template, and a library of reusable learning objects, then delivered on staggered dates so your review load stays manageable. Courses are tested on enterprise LMS platforms including Cornerstone, Workday Learning, and SAP SuccessFactors, built to WCAG 2.1 AA with Section 508 alignment and a VPAT on request, and produced under a mutual NDA with encrypted file transfer.

You work with a Learning Advisor from first contact, and Professional and Enterprise builds include a priority project manager. We reply within 3 business hours, send a fixed-price proposal within 24 hours of the discovery call, and fix any post-launch defect – a broken interaction, a tracking failure, an accessibility miss – at no cost for 30 days after delivery. If a package fails on your LMS, resolving it is our responsibility.

Yes. If you have editable source files from Storyline, Rise, iSpring, Lectora, or Captivate, we work in them directly and can match your existing template so new modules fit the library. If you only have published SCORM packages or old Flash output, we rebuild them through legacy content conversion. We plan package replacement with your LMS administrator so completion history stays attached where your platform supports it, and we test before go-live.

Every course reports completion, pass/fail, score, and time to your LMS, with question-level tracking where your platform supports it. xAPI and cmi5 packages can also send detailed statements – individual answers, scenario choices, and activity outside the LMS – to a learning record store. Kirkpatrick Level 1 and Level 2 measurement is built into every Rapid Build.

Customization scales with the tier. Every build uses an on-brand template and custom visuals; the Professional Build adds branching scenarios, custom animation, and a named on-screen facilitator; the Enterprise Build adds adaptive branching, software or process simulation, and fully custom design with motion graphics. Role-specific versions, region-specific policy variants, extra languages, and microlearning splits are scoped in Week 1 and quoted before work starts.
